"a history of christianity - the first three thousand years", by diarmaid macculloch.

"misquoting jesus", by bart ehrman.

have you investigated gnostic christianity?.

the gnostic wing of christianity, if it can even be called that today, has quite a few differences to christianity and catholicism.

if the old gnostic christians were here, they would hardly recognize what has happened to the original orthodox catholic church or its various offshoots in protestantism and islam.

Those who vote, do you stay loyal to your party?

i was ready to vote today but i found out i had to be registered 30 days in advance, i missed the mark by 4 days.

anyway, even though i selected a party, i was on quite a few votes going to vote for other parties.

here is why, i was looking up the websites of each candidate.

I stay loyal to my party. I am an independent and vote my pocket book. Which does make me appear to be pro a certain party. The party that the economy and stock market prospers under Which in my life is the democrat party. But I study the issues and the candidates and vote for those who best protect and prosper my pocket book.

it amazes me how much thinking one does when you're out of the cult.

i mean another thread got me thinking about the story of jesus death.

so adam breaks a little test lives for 900 plus years and then dies of natural causes.

But like Tom Petty says the waiting is the hardest part.

When you are waiting for your desired outcome,

you can say a prayer with your request daily then put it out of your mind

and go about your business.

So prayer and God can be like a crutch, an aid, a tool.

Prayer can help one stay focused and still funcition.

That information is brought to us by the church and the bible

and in many instances it leads to success.

Maybe someday the information will be delivered by another source,

But in my day 50 years ago before the information age, it wasn't.

There are most likely success/ positive thinking gurus that teach how to

get what you want without prayer, but their ways seem similar.

write down your goals and look at your list everyday.

That method of writing down your goals and looking at it everyday works.

So if you find that out from a success guru and not a preacher

you can end up being the success gurus disciple.

That could be a good thing.

I'm not a lawyer.

But I was a court reporter and a deputy sheriff,

and I have lived 62 years.

It seems people hire lawyers to keep or get there tit out of the wringer.

If a

Lawyer says he can't do that or shows he cant do that people hire another lawyer.

It is obvious they look for loopholes.

I have personally seen many times where they have a guilty client,

And they plead not guilty. They have found a loophole or think they have.

Everyone has seen that.

Look at O.J simpson.

The world could see he was guilty and his lawyers plead not guilty.

They found loopholes and exploited them.

If I was in trouble and had money and my lawyer told me he

didn't look for loopholes.

I would fire him and get one who did.

It is possible that lawyers are not trained for that,

I haven't been to law school.

But the lawyers who were not trained for that or who do not figure it out,

probably end up in some other line of work.

Or end up shuffling papers like a paralegal under someone

who has learned it or has figured it out.

When I was in my 40's, I myself could never get over the "ask anything in my name

and I will give it to you.

I was always experimenting with that one.

I asked a lot of things,

Sometimes it took a while to get them,

Somethings you just cant ask for and get in this life.

Having said that, This imaginary God didn't sacrafice his son.

He died himself, He was God incarnate.

Jesus is God. He is God incarnate.

It is just the way it is.

We live this life and we get to choose whether we accept God's sovereignty over our life or not.

It is not like it was a suprise that Adam and Eve sinned.

It was a plan.

God knows the end from the begining.

You don't have to think it was anything great when you really understand it.

It is just the way it is.

Jesus said in Revelation 22:13 " I am the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, the begining and the end.

That to me means he is God.

The bible is a story to give you the message that you have to accept God/ Jesus in your life to

spend eternity with him.

You can reject it and be atheist and live without God.

Or accept it and have all the blessings.

God made us, and he is not going to let us spend eternity with him

if we do not acknowledge and accept him.

At a certain point it is his way or the highway.

At least that is the message I get from reading the bible.

It sounds like you don't want to live with Jesus.
